Although the success of a mediation process depends on political will, mediators and conflict parties often seek inspiration from other peace agreements for possible concepts and formulations. The MSU Peace Agreements Database and Language of Peace tool seek to assist mediators, drafters, conflict parties and other stakeholders as they work to prepare peace agreement texts and provisions.
The MSU database provides peacemaking professionals with close to 1,300 documents that can be understood broadly as peace agreements. Users can access the full texts of the agreements in different languages using different search criteria.
For more complex research, Language of Peace is an innovative tool developed by MSU and the University of Cambridge to compare and collate language on key issues across 75,000+ peace agreement provisions (Language of Peace link below links to external website).
