The Declaration of Itamaraty of 17 February 1995 consolidates the ceasefire agreement that ended sustained combat between Ecuador and Peru. The declaration, by which the two parties accept an observation mission from the guarantor countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and the United States), calls for the total demilitarization of the disputed area. The two parties committ to start negotiations to resolve the border dispute peacefully.

Agreement on the Clarification of the Akosombo Agreement (Accra Clarification)

This clarification agreement amends the Akosombo Agreement of 12 September of 1994. It provides clarity for the ceasefire and the establishment of safe havens and a buffer zone, the restructuring of the security sector and the appointment of of government officials.  The Akosombo Agreement with all its clarifications, is acceded to by parties previously not party to the agreement (see Annex I).
