This Security Council resolution constitutes an agreement to extend the transition period in Côte d I'voire for a further 12 months. It endorses the decisions of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union to extend the mandate of the President and the Prime Minister for a final 12 months and aims to hold elections by 31 October 2007. It empowers the Prime Minister to undertake the implementations of the Road Map.  

This agreement establishes a cessation of hostilities between the parties. The agreement calls for the transformation of the Defense and Security Forces, the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of the Palipehutu-FNL Forces and the establishment of verification and monitoring mechanisms.

The parties agreed to honour and implement commitments made in agreement of 22 June 2006 and to form a national army. They also agreed to hold further negotiations on outstanding political and security power-sharing issues.

This cessation of hostilities agreement seeks to assemble LRA forces in safety and security. It calls on the parties to end propaganda between them and to create a mechanism to monitor implementation of the agreement. 

This resolution calls for the full cessation of hostilities, the deployment of Lebanese forces to Southern Lebanon, parallel withdrawal of Israeli forces behind the Blue Line, strengthening the UN force (UNIFIL) to facilitate the entry of Lebanese Forces in the region and the establishment of a demilitarised zone between the Blue Line and the Litani River. It also calls for UN Secretary-General to develop proposals to implement the relevant provisions of the Taif Accords as well as Security Council Resolutions 1559 (2004) and 1680 (2006) and imposes an arms embargo on Lebanon.

This agreement provides for a series of measures aiming at promoting a durable political solution to the crisis situation in the Kidal region. The parties agree to create a tentative regional council, and to organize a regional forum on the development of the region. Joint special security units shall be created and the agreement will be monitored by an Ad Hoc Committee.

This communiqué, adopted by the League of Arab States on the basis of the first dialogue between the parties, recognizes the legitimacy of the Somali Transitional government and the Islamic Courts. It also commits the parties to continue dialogue, bring war criminals to justice, and stop hostilities and media propaganda. The communiqué also mentions the possibility of establishing technical committees to make proposals on political and security issues for future dialogue sessions.
